Controller / Accounting Operations Specialist

Company: Stack Asset Group + Skyline Builders

Location: Salem, Oregon (In-person with some remote flexibility)

Type: Part-Time to Full-Time

About Stack & Skyline

Stack Asset Group and Skyline Builders are vertically integrated real estate investment and development companies building scalable platforms for acquisitions, construction, and capital management.

Our mission is to create clarity, consistency, and alignment across all financial and operational systems while maintaining the agility to grow.

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and proactive accounting professional to take ownership of our financial operations across Stack and Skyline. This position will start part-time and transition to a full-time, controller-level role as we continue to scale.

The Role

You’ll manage the financial backbone of our operations — maintaining audit-ready books, preparing investor reports, and ensuring accurate, timely financial information across multiple entities.

You’ll coordinate directly with our third-party accounting team to transition work in-house, standardize processes, and strengthen internal systems. You’ll oversee investor distributions, open and manage bank accounts, and work closely with leadership, lenders, and our CPA.

Over time, this role will evolve into the primary controller position overseeing all finance operations for both Stack and Skyline.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping across multiple entities (investment, construction, and holding companies)

  • Perform monthly bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations

  • Prepare consolidated cash flow statements, project-level financials, and investor reporting packages

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor invoices, payments, and reimbursements

  • Oversee investor distributions — ensuring accuracy, documentation, and timeliness

  • Open and manage bank accounts for new projects and entities

  • Coordinate directly with the third-party accounting team to transition accounting functions in-house

  • Ensure all financial records are organized, current, and audit-ready

  • Support leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and capital tracking

  • Collaborate with CPA and legal advisors on taxes, audits, and financial compliance

  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities within finance operations

Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years of accounting or controller experience (real estate, construction, or multi-entity preferred)

  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online/Enterprise, Excel or Google Sheets, and general accounting systems

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual vs. cash accounting, and entity-level consolidations

  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and follow-through

  • Comfortable working independently and improving existing systems

  • Experience managing investor distributions, project-level accounting, and loan tracking
